Here is the headstock design, ready to be cut into shape. The dots on the face are where the new drill holes will go. Then the veneer will go over the top. Thoughts?

nice flowing shape BG
stock shape looks great BG, won't be as wide and you shifted the tuner holes up a bit
should look fantastic with the maple veneer !
don't forget to trace the new shape as it will disappear when the veneer goes on
I like the shape.
Are the dots for the new holes allowing for the offset of the post/capstan radius and string thickness? That is, assuming you want perfectly straight string runs from the nut slots and you're using conventional tuners. Just thinking out loud.
good point Weirdy,
if the dots are the centres of the tuner holes as BG stated the strings will be slightly angled from the width of the tuner post
I'm planning on cutting the shape and redrilling holes first. 😃
The holes are being redrilled to correct the break angle of what the factory gave me. Long story short, the factory kinda goofed the alignment of the machine head holes. My realignment will actually centralise and be more "correct" all round.
I hope. 😉
makes sense BG to do all the realignment work before the veneer goes on and you will need a smaller veneer then.
Good lucky buddy, keep us updated on the diary and we will try not to hijack your thread !
The temptation to start another mega epic hijack with DB and Wokka. I won't hijack this thread, there are many others to hijack!
sounds like a good plan BG, post plenty of pics!
--EDIT--
Looking at my Strat, the holes have drilled perfectly by the factory :D
Your must have been one of those simple mistakes they make every now and then.
Headstock shape looks great BG.
cheers,
Gav.
