Love the headstock!
Thanks for the positive feedback.
Small update on progress, I have since applied 2x more coats of Goldenrod to the flame maple and it continues to 'pop'. Bit of a disaster with the Wudtone mahogany on the body (especially around the sides). Take up was uneven, wood appears to have 'burnished' in places (especially on the convex curves) and did not take the stain as well. I have sanded back with 180 and planning next move. I'm thinking Wudtone deep base over the 180 sanding to get a nice deep penetration, then light sand 220, another coat of Wudtone deep base, then see how it looks. The Mahogany grain seems quite tight.
More piccies to follow soon..
thats a bummer Andrew on the sides that aren't taking the wudtone. Sounds like a plan the 180 grit should rough up the surface enough to let the wudtone take in. Post some progress pics to see how it looks
Prepped the sides for re-Wudtoning, along with another coat on the back and neck. Sides took the Wudtone up lovely this time, and looks even with the back and no lighter burnished areas around the sides, phew... 180 grit did the trick.
The lighter part in photo below is due to my camera flash. Overall the Mahogany has a lovely golden hue to it in the light. When time for top-coat I may use a wipe-on poly or Tru-Oil it up to get a nice depth and gloss to the finish..

Those colours look great together. Very nice.
very nice results!
well done Andrew that mahogany looks fantastic on the back/sides, nice contrast to the golden rod cap.
Whats the Feast Watson can in one of the photos ?
Ah, that was used to oil our deck over the weekend. I've never tried on a guitar!
