For me there are two bands that seem to be little known, that also have a few links to each other.

The first is a band called Firebird. Formed by former Carcass guitarist Bill Steer they were active from 1999 to 2012 when they called it a day. They were a three piece power rock trio with a classic sound often compared to bands like Cream. Hard to choose a favourite firebird song, but this one is pretty cool.

The other is a band that still exists called Spiritual Beggars from Sweden. They were formed by Michael Amott (former Carcass Guitarist and current Guitarist in Arch Enemy). The Beggars are a sort of side project band, but continue to be quite active. Their use of keyboards gives them a classic 70s sound but a lot of their stuff is a bit heavier (often described as Stoner metal).

The thing I like most about both of these bands is that they make music in a style that not many do nowadays and they do it well.

Distributed on independent labels, they haven't had as much attention as I think they deserve (and buying their CDs can sometimes be so hard that I have officially declared any day I obtain one of their CDs to be an Auspicious day:) ).

Other than the founders of each band originating from Carcass, they have shared a drummer who also did double duty in Grand Magus with one of the singers in the Beggars (JB). Busy bunch of musos.

One of my favourite bands no one knows about is Man Man out of Philidelphia. Amazing musicians making what I would call alternative pop.
Honus Honus the singer has a voice that really grows on you.

Another unknown is Jack Pearson, a phenomenal blues/ jazz guitarist. He has played with the Allman Brothers, and countless other big names. You have probably heard his playing on a record and not known it was him.

And what does one of the worlds premier guitarist play, a stock standard Squire.

First of all, @Analyst69, when I read Carcass, I was expecting both of those bands to be a lot heavier. Nice.

Okay, next up the incredible Jolly. A fiercely independent band, all their recordings, production and film clips are done in the drummers basement. During hurricane Sandy, that basement was flooded and they lost almost all of their equipment. Amazingly, they bounced back for a full European tour and album release within six months. I admire their tenacity as much as I love their music.

Haven't listened to Ozric Tentacles for a while. I used to have a cd with a bunch of downloads that a friend in the US sent me, I don't know where it's gotten to. (The cd also had the Wildhearts on it, now that's a combination)
