Oh no he isnt...... :?
I'm trying to imagine what a 12 string bass would sound like with three strings to a course. Surely it would be quite muddy.
Whilst we're on the topic of extended range instruments.. Is there opportunity for a hard tail 7 stringer?
If you've listened to Cheap Trick, Kings X, Pearl Jam or Galactic Cowboys you've heard 12 string bass.Quote:

How the hell do you know this shit, Fretty? Do you need to get out more?
I'm a big fan of both Kings X and Galactic Cowboys, and I know they got into 12 string bass from Cheap Trick's Tom Peterson. The bass player from Pearl Jam was a King's X fan and picked up 12 String bass from them.
And me I just remember useless music facts... it's a blessing/curse.
Hehe... I would love a 12-string bass.... of course...
Gotta admit, an eight or twelve string bass does have some appeal. Not certain I would do it, but it definitely has appeal.
Au contraire, they ring like bells. The other two strings in each course are tuned an octave up from the standard bass.Quote:

The trick is to tune one of the higher strings slightly flat so it gives a natural chorus effect. The music store I used to work at had 2 of the Hamer 12-strings. I adored them.
