DarkMark has pointed you in the right direction and he has certainly had some great results with his "other suggestions" on his builds :).

I will just add a couple of points though.
Goof Off is about 98% acetone (IIRC) and can melt the plastic binding, so be careful not to go too liberally (ie: pouring it on).
Wiping the glue with a rag dampened with goof off and then scrubbing the veneer with a small brass bristled or stiff plastic bristled brush (also available at the Bunnings) then wiping again with the rag is a practical method (repeat until gone).

Secondly, the goof off is going to remove the stain, so you may need to take it all back as much as you can before re-staining so you don't end up with light & dark areas.

Hey mate, thanks for the advice, I did apply the goof with a cloth and rubbed it in with a 0000 synthetic wool. Wiped again, it’s not making much of a difference, the stain doesn’t seem to adhere to the sections with the glue stains, seems like the glue is deep in the veneer…any other options?

Applied an Angelus turquoise on top to see if it makes a difference, the glue spots still stand out!! What a pain [emoji38]

Brass brush? Persistence? P240 sandpaper?

Is it me or are the kits getting worse, not better?

It could be that there's so much glue that it's soaked right through the veneer.

If you can get the glue off from around the F-holes, but not the edge, then you could think about spraying a solid colour around the edge for a sunburst. Dark blue or black, maybe.

I would email Pit Bull and complain, as the kits shouldn't be coming out in this condition. Given the price, I can accept the odd small glue spot, but here the glue is all over the place! Veneered tops are meant to be stained, but you can't stain it if they are covered in glue.

I’ve already emailed pitbull with some photos, most likely will go the route you’ve suggested and go for a very dark blue around the edge…

Might have salvaged the situation, did a dark burst on the edge and I like how it came out! Still have some unevenness around the f holes but I can live with that

If you've got one, I'd try a blue Sharpie on that centre line. I bought a pack of coloured Sharpies and I've used them a lot for small touch-up jobs.

I'd try and feather the edges of the darkburst a bit more if you can. In some areas it blends, but in others there's more of a solid line. You could try stippling the dark colour on with an almost dry coarse textured rag.

Hi Simon

Thanks and yes did notice the solid lines and tried to blend them in a bit, I’m overlaying it with a turquoise Angelus dye will is helping with the blending. Will do a bit more tomorrow
