Vintage style was solid core.
This is solid core wire with a braided screen, aiming for the best of both worlds, solid core because the older ones sounded better, screened because the older unscreened ones suffered from noise pickup.
Woven circuit is marketing.
They could have called it Noiseless Mojo wiring. 😎
Lack of clarity aside, it's sort of nice to see shielded wiring in a budget guitar ;-)
Though with single coil pickups and noise reduction, shielded wire will do almost nothing compared to shielding the pickup cavities.
I still haven't found any pictures of the insides of an Artist ST62 so have no idea how much of the wiring is the braided stuff. It's not the easiest wire to use for short distances and cloth single core is a lot easier for wiring between switches and pots, with a greatly reduced risk of creating shorts.
In have not seen or heard any mention of shielding paint in the cavities, which would be a far better marketing point IMO.Quote:

The TC59 control cavity has shielding paint, but not the pickup cavities, FWIW.
So if the cavity is shielded the braid is overkill and if at least the pickup cavity is not shielded it's underkill. The circuit weavers can't win. No wonder they have receded into the depths of vintage.
