Neck finish: I decided to embellish the head, not cut it. To do this, I firstly drilled a cavity

And then to continue the steam punk vibe, I added more clock parts filled in with resin. Oh yes, I have also added a quartz crystal I found in Tasmania, Australia.

Now the waiting game while the resin sets. In the meantime, I will be sanding and polishing the casts I made. Once the head resin has set and I have polished it, I will begin the next phase - attaching the bridge and neck!!! Watch this space ....

You are a very talented person and have done some great work there! You've done very well with your first build.

The 'triangular bit' will be the truss rod cover plate to cover up the truss rod hole in the headstock (circled in red below)

Wow, that is going to be amazing! I particularly love how the watch parts blend into the pickup selector switch.

Cool - can you explain what you use to make it? Is it off the shelf? I have used cold gun blues for this sort of thing in the past but never come across a sulphur option.

You can purchase patina from any decent jewellery supply store. Heres a link to the product I used. A little goes a long way ... https://koodak.com.au/products/liver...d66cf385&_ss=r
There are number of different types you can purchase for different metals and finishes so find out what you want and take it from there.

You will also need a neutralising solution to dip it in after it has blackened. 2 tablespoons Baking soda mixed with 500ml water. You don't need to leave it in for long, only a few minutes. Then dry and polish it, leaving black sections where needed. You can get some great finishes. Some of the best ones are unplanned.

And most important .. have fun with it :)

OK, so the resin dried, but I couldn't help myself and have been making a few options so that I have a choice. Here are the finished knobs after a good sand and polish .... delicious!
