That sort of single cutaway with the long top bout style looks weird to me. But it definitely seems to be gaining popularity with bass builders (even our own DB).

A month ago I went down to Tassie for a couple of weeks to go to a couple of festivals. While I was Launceston the local music shop (Barretts) was having a guitar expo at one of the hotels. There were a whole heap of interesting guitars, basses and amps. One that caught my eye was in the new stuff for sale room, an Ibanez SR1800 A gorgeous bass that I could never hope to replicate.
I may have bought it.
Maddog we need photo's of that gorgeous bass please !

I'm sorry, I couldn't help it.
Ah yes I knew it was. Nice pick up
Some timbery goodness
This appeals to me greatly!
That's pretty cool. Its ornate without being garish which is hard to do well. String setup look interesting.
This made me gasp.

It's a Fernandes MY 115S Kiyoshi Signature edition and maybe one of the only ones in Australia and it's mine.
That is a lovely piece of work.
Yes, it is quite brutalistic has the sustainer pickup with feedback feature and a Seymore Duncan humbucker can't remember what type. 17mm maple top 25mm mahogany backed body maple neck rosewood fretboard and a beautiful orange stain all over. I love it.
Can I get an Amen or a "Oh Myyyyy..."?
'Tis a harp-bass. And of course I want one!
Amazingly for sale here in Perth.

Dang! I just turned green with envy!
How could I resist?
Ooo. I like that one.
Ordinarily I'd just post a picture of this bass, but the article about it is fascinating, and exactly what I don't need to be reading!😛

That bridge....I'm imagining it would lead to a much mellower tone. And you would have to have exactly same strings each time or you'd probably end up with string rattling. That jack placement seems awkward as well. Pretty shape though.
Its a very different idea, visually very lovely. I can't imagine how much of a pain the carving was though.
