Ah, I see it all now some of it.
The red indicates where the metal block is screwed firmly to the bottom of the pickup cavity.
The blue indicates the four bolts for adjusting the height and angle at which the pickup sits. You need to take the pickup off to adjust them, so it's not something you can do with the strings on.
The green indicates where the two bolts (that would normally be the height-adjustment bolts with a pickup ring mounting) hold the pickup firmly down against the metal base so that the pickup can't move.

Indeed. But it does give a very secure and adjustable fitment of the pickup direct to the body.
