What's the body made of?
Its a one piece body of figured Qld Maple theres a guy in woodend vic at a place called "Artisans at the mill" and he slabs Qld Maple Raintree and Mango.
The body and neck were finished with colortone in a miracat laquer. Not my favourite shape of guitar but it was my first custom build, made plenty of mistakes that needed fixing but turned out fine in the end. Have since bought a triton router table and router, makes life much easier just need a bandsaw now!
I need a bandsaw too! Do feel free to show case your work here!
Ok the weather has been kind to me the past few days, so I managed to complete all the clear coats. I used a total of 3.5x400ml cans of clear and from past experience that should be more than enough. I normally used 3 of the same cans for previous projects, but hopefully this is enough and I won't get sand throughs!
Now I'll have to wait minimum of 2 weeks, but I'll wait till I finish my next project. By then it should be sufficiently cured.

Lots of sanding to go, but jeez that thing looks fantastic.
looking unreal Simon, are you putting a tremelo spring cover on and if so you haven't recessed the cover ?
good luck with the sanding in 2 weeks !
The 2nd last photo are you giving the thumbs up in the reflection ? fair enough !
Woks I thought of doing a recessed but it turns out my bridge trem block is too deep so the springs would hit the plate. It should be alright if I were to make it floating but I'll see later on. Might end up with no cover at all.
And yes that's a thumbs up!
fair enough Simon, I'd probably just leave the cover off the tremelo cavity then, looks rock n roll !
