It looks, to me, like a Greg Bennett Avion. Quite a cheapie.

Because .....Gretsch! That is nice. I'd like a duo jet or a Billy Bo if I ever bought another. I nearly pressed the button on a Jim Dandy acoustic recently but though better of it.

I was confused as it has a Samick headstock, until I looked up Greg Bennet Guitars and found they were designed by Greg for Samick. From the Greg B website it would seem the electrics are no longer in production, though I can find quite a few still for sale in the UK. Acoustics only at the moment.
Holy Moly, it's completed!!
Some very unique black finished acoustic strings!

Even the non-wound strings are treated with the special finish. No idea how well it will hold up over time.

I'm lost for words. That's incredible.
It's certainly all done very well but for me the overall effect is cheap and tacky. A bit less would equate to a lot more for this guitar.
For me I wouldn't say cheap and tacky, but I find there is too much going on, I dont know where too look. I do agree tho Simon, a bit less would certainly equate to more in my book also. Having said that the craftmanship is amazing
I think the craftmanship is outrageously good and that this guitar is simply beautiful.... as a display piece. Not too sure I'd gig it... I don't know about cheap and tacky, either; less may well be more but as a piece to display what the man can do, it serves it's purpose admirably!
Maybe my own definitions of those words don't convey the true meanings of what I feel. But one of my last jobs before I stopped working was a £180m (Aus $293m) 3-floor penthouse that was being occupied by a Ukrainian billionaire. It just proved to me that money doesn't buy taste as everything was just so over the top. Every light was a chandelier. There was one chandelier-like 'sculpture' that undoubtedly was pure crystal and cost a fortune, but done in such a way that it looked imitation and something you'd buy in the cheapest home decorations shop you can find for about $20. In the same way that there's a fine line between genius and lunacy, for me there's a similar line in ornamentation and finish on guitars between tasteful and over the top. Too much embellishment and the guitar gets pushed over from tasteful to (what I'd call) tacky.
I like the look of it from the back, but the soundhole inlay doesn't work for me, and the upper bout soundhole shapes somehow clash with the wood grain. Not a great fan of the scooped headstock either. Modify those and I'd be very impressed with it.
The maker is obviously very clever and talented and the execution of it all is wonderful, but as a whole, it just doesn't work for me.
Each to their own...... I was just admiring the workmanship and totally in awe.
Would I buy one if bank balance allowed, probably not but that doesn't stop me from appreciating a piece of art.
Bit like arguing whether Picaso or Da Vinci is better, all subjective to one's personal tastes.
Does this qualify for inclusion in the Beautiful Guitar thread?, it's my new Fender USA Standard Stratocaster, with it's metallic Burgundy Red finish:

An Epiphone Genesis reissue. Never seen one before, and it's currently on sale on Facebook... looks lovely to these eyes- thankfully I'm of an impecunious stature at present so it'll have to go to another home...
It's a remake of a late 70's Japanese Epiphone model (though US designed).

I'm not a religious man by any means, but I'd convert to Luthieranism (pun intended) over this.
A R8 concept bass by Jens Ritter.
Gorgeous!!!
Kind of like those experiments DB was doing with hidden pickups and stealth controls.
Ugly pickguards don't have to be the rule.
I agree with Waz on this one. Not a pickguard I'd choose.
Heathens, the pair of ye!😁
It's funny how much personal opinion plays into which thread these guitars end up in. Maybe we should start an 'interesting' guitar thread and throw them all in there?
The pick guard is taking my eye from what is a relly lovely bass
"Here’s a closer look at the @ernieball @music_man Ball Family Reserve Steve Morse in Tahitian Blue. Hand-stained Tahitian Blue translucent finish accentuates the beauty of the highly figured maple top. Available only on the Steve Morse, the 2-over-4 headstock gives this instrument a striking, bold appearance. Deluxe white binding ornately compliments the richness of the exclusive Tahitian Blue finish. Each guitar comes with a back plate signed by Steve Morse and a numbered certificate of authenticity. Limited to 69 pieces."
Looks like water over a coral reef.
Sloppy workmanship here - sitting the body on a patch of stain. What were they thinking of!

It's nice looking, but not really my cup of tea. The trouble is that there are so many similar guitars out there with pretty finishes just aimed at people with high disposable incomes. But I was more taken with the fact that that they'd issue a promo picture showing bad workshop practice. OK, the back is also blue (but a darker blue), but consistency and care should be paramount in the production of a high-end guitar.
The body is also finished in polyester, which I really don't like as a finish. The mahogany body is also constructed with the grain at an angle, which I don't like in the PBG kits, let alone an Aus$4.9k guitar.
Hey Simon, I think the spirit of this thread is appreciation of the artistic aspect not the actual bits that cannot be seen in shots provided or the practical side of things.
Let's face it, not many, if any of us forum members would have that amount of spare coin to drop on an axe like this one. Even if I did, probably wouldn't buy this one anyways. As a piece of art, it is however appealing to the eye, but like all forms of art, not everyone sees things the same way. So easy to find negatives and sometimes harder to express positives, when maybe it may be best to just say nothing at all?
I do try and do that and I don't often post in this thread. But it is a guitar building forum, and I was originally just pointing out a really bad practice.
