I must just say that the nut looks very slightly too small for the neck at the top, or at least the slots are a bit too close together as the bottom E isn't running quite parallel to the edge of the fretboard. If this does bother you, fixing it now might be a good time to do it before any finish goes on.
Part of the illusion is that the area of the headstock just near the nut needs a little more sanding because its a fraction too wide and also I hadn't glued the nut it so it was moving around a little while I was stringing it up and in the photo it looks as if it's moved slightly. Here are a couple of photos showing the nut close up relative to the fretboard. I think the actual difference when the nut was sitting centred was about 0.5 - 1mm extra space between the edge of the fretboard and either E string up around the 17th fret when compared with the 1st.Quote:

Looks good to me. It's the overspray that makes the burst. I really dislike 'bursts' with a 'blend zone' that's only a couple of mm wide. Some clear over the top will also help blend it all in.
