Not gonna worry on this one mate. She's no gotm. Basically this was a great way for me to learn how to put a guitar together and she is no means perfect. A few knocks and scrapes, a spot on the back where the solder landed. The decal for this is a vinyl print. I'm happy that it plays and sounds nice. Cosmetically there is room for improvement. I got a Tele kit ages ago, not sure from where, that I've stripped, and timbermated today. I bought a compressor and paints to do it properly. Rattle cans just don't give you the control. The Tele is kind of the test for finishing techniques as the ex was an all round test to get in the swing of things. The Tele will be candy burnt orange, white painted binding, marbled sides and a natural neck and head stock.
So after these two I should hopefully be armed with enough skill to get into the two ib7s. The first is the stock one, candy red over marble front and a black burst with an airbrush, black sides. The second is 27" with a tuneomatic and quilted top. Gonna stain this one but not sure on colours yet. I really want the ib's to come out a million bucks and will take into the build all the lessons I have learnt along the way.

cool you have big plans Andrew, yes you will find each build you learn a bit more and improve on the build quality

That IB sounds awesome dude. Delivery in Nov/Dec?
-
Thanks guys. Adam says delivery October/november but maybe sooner.

Looks like you and I will be building IB7s around the same time mate. ;) I've got an ib7 with hardtail, veneer and maple board on the way for late nov/dec. :D so excited. Will be a nice xmas/end of uni present!

Awesome Mate. There needs to be more pb 7 string gurus. What are your plans with it?
-
dark purple trans finish, waxed board with no stain (purple -> white contrast hnngh), black back and head stock
What about you man?
-
That's gonna be epic. For the standard one it'll be black back and sides, black and silver marble top with candy red and a black burst, same job on the head stock face and natural neck. For the hard tail baritone it'll be stained but no idea what colour yet. Tossing up a stained silver burst but still not sure.

Sweet man. Marbles are rad. I was actually thinking about a swirl but I just don't have the practice/facilities to do one.
Will see you on the battlefield :P

Yeah man swirled ibbys look rad as. I'd love one except I don't play with sunnies on, with a fan in front of me and in no way have the chops to play it. I'll leave that to the shredders out there.
Question regarding set up. I've leveled and crowned the frets, came up pretty good with the triangle file. Sanded down the bottom of the nut and the 1st fret buzz has disappeared. Problem now is even with the bridge screwed all the way in the action is still a bit high. Not slide high but not as slinky as I'd like. Would it be worth taking more of the nut? At least if it's too low I have miles of play in the bridge.
