Back on track! Looks really nice man.
Another coat of tru-oil and the first coat of DT base stain on this morning.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d603179547.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8caf760245.jpg
Yeah....that is looking way better.
First intensifier coat on as well as another coat of TO on the top today.
I like the way the TO goes on and the finish it delivers.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2d4def2826.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...80f9137286.jpg
That stain on the back looks good. Nice colour and grain still visible. Compliments the top rather well.
Thanks waz. I really wasn't sure how it would look with 2 different finishes i was a bit skeptical to be honest but its coming together better than i thought. I started sanding the neck yesterday so I can restain it.
Matching the DT from neck to body might be a bit of a challenge due to the different timbers. I thought about just finishing the neck in tru oil but i don't think that would suit the guitar style so much.
Hi mate, suggest holding back on any more body staining as you may need what is left over to bring the neck up to a similar shade.
If the body has had 2 coats, neck will need 3 or maybe 4. Best to check for colour match after 3 and then decide if more is required. If neck goes darker than the body just add one more intensifier to the body. From memory intensifier doesn't seem to have as much colour strength as the base stain and could be used to slightly add a bit more of the same tint without going overboard.
Cheers, Waz
