I don't know, I've seen some of that Artist stuff, it all pretty cheap, you may as well keep the pickups from the kit.

interesting web address...."Electricpickupartist" has a rather dodgy ring to it.
Did you listen to the soundclips where they were independently reviewed & compared to the Seymour Duncans they were modelled on? Sounded as good and for a helluva lot less coin.
For my Son's guitar I bought some Entwistle Darkstars to replace standard PBG Humbuckers not knowing anything about them and unable to find any sound clips which was a big leap of faith that thankfully paid off. From the sound clip these sounded better and not far behind the tone rider alnico 4's that were put in my EX-1, again after knowing very little about those but had the benefit of hearing various sound clips to help decide which ones I thought would suit best.
Given my experience with Std PBG vs Entwistle Darkstars, definitely a significant improvement where the Artist ones sounded even better and would be prepared to spend $65 to $80 for a set that also comes with 4 wires.
This is all good info. I had confined myself to the "What I Knew" school of thought with PUPs which basically limited me to SD, EMG, DiMarzio as far as my thinking goes. I've had great results with SD but the coin...ah me the coin...especially on the last set I bought, (SD Black Winter, $300+ the set). Wasn't so put out by the EMG's that are going in to the EXA ($200 ish, delivered in 3 days out of San Fran, complete with Plug In wiring loom and Pots).
We shall see what the results bring, when tested in anger, and given the relatively inexpensive Entwistles and Toneriders we may chance our hand at some upgrades for comparison. What the hell, its only money.:o
nice pickups are like Pokemon - Gotta get 'em all....
Ah F*ckit, if they're like pokemon does that mean I can expect hordes of numpty's wandering through my Workshop looking for rare PUPkemon? Time for a pair of angry Dobermans.
Quick update, and shot of that Dingoburst:cool:
all thick Tru oil coats were applied and sanded flat. thin coats are being applied now!
