I keep asking the same thing... Then I'm still lost haha

oh not the humming blues again Shazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz !!!!
Sometimes you can get what's called a "sympathetic vibration" with springs on some guitars where the springs will start vibrating when you play a certain note on a certain string acoustically, happens in Fender Stratocasters.
See if you can pinpoint where the high-pitched hum is coming from, that will most likely give you an idea on what's causing it, does the high-pitched hum sound like it's coming from the headstock end of the neck?, or does it sound like it's coming from the body of the guitar?
If it involves the strings, the high-pitched hum could be what I call Sitar-Buzz, which is sometimes caused by the string-slots in the nut, what happens is that the string vibrates against the side of the nut and makes a Sitar-like buzzing sound, a sure sign is that the string doesn't sustain for very long.
Vibrating pickup adjustment springs, tune-o-matic retainer wire, or maybe even missing fibre washers each side of the Bigsby spring? Find the note/chord that triggers the vibration, pluck it, then with your free hand touch the parts to see what stops it (pickup bodies, Bigsby handle etc).
Also check all the screws. I had the same issue once - it nearly drove me nuts. It ended up being a screw that worked loose with the vibration from playing

Worked out the most part of the buzz! It did have to do with the nut!(really didn't think it did, sorry Doc!) The 'A' slot I cut was too deep and the string was vibrating on the first fret 😖 So I have filled the spot with epoxy and will have to recut the slot... Hopefully that fixes the most part.
My husband thinks the secondary roller is moving a little too much, he is also going to price me a Bigsby B70
So I used some plumbers Teflon tape to fix the rattle in the secondary roller on the 'bigsby'
The grommets were too small so had a lot of movement, hence the rattle/buzz. I applied the teflon to the grommets to make the grommets a larger gauge, and voila it's not rattling anymore :)
Now. I also found that the D string slot in the Knut was too deep also. So I have filled that with epoxy to recut (the A string slot has been fixed and is now all good)
So hopefully tomorrow I get a chance to cut the D slot and set up the guitar (action and intonation) then I shall be bringing some sweet, buzz free sound tests to your ears!
She's alive!! And buzz free!!! Just need to tighten the trem bar as it came loose then I shall record some vids tomorrow/Monday! 😆 Thanks everyone for tagging along for the ride! Have appreciated everyone's help and support
How about that, would never have guessed.
Know the feeling Shazz. Have had to improvise a few times too, all part of the journey/challenge.
Hey ShazzRandom, I haven't had time to follow this thread in detail, but it's an amazing build diary from what I have read.
I don't know what the record is for the longest My Build Diary, but yours has to be up there. If it is the longest, we will have to see what sort of prize we can rustle up.
Can't wait to hear the guitar when you finally fire it up.
They're both impressive... Prizes for all!
DrNomis and Shazz, what are your t-shirt sizes?
Ahh yes, I remember Dr, they were the black ones from memory.
So, you need one of these then:
Attachment 9851
And I do mean the t-shirt, not my gorgeous friend/reluctant model Emma.
Where's the T-Shirt Adam, I can't see one anywhere???
Oh, hang on, if I look a bit harder is the good looker wearing one.
My eyes were drawn to the guitar of course haha.
My bet for most number of pages is on Doc as with him being a cricket fan surely he is aiming for nothing less than ton.
Hahahaha, she probably wouldn't be able to put up with me anyway, I actually bought one white one and one black one, I'm wearing the white one right now.
@ Wazkelly I think we can agree that both the guitar and the model in the pic are equally good looking, but then again here's the conundrum, if we admire the guitar the model gets jealous, if we admire the model the guitar gets jealous....lol.
And now I totally understand why nice guitars are always shown-off being held by good looking models.
I don't blame you for being distracted Waz, that is my LP-1SS which DB made and presented to me as a Birthday gift (from memory). I was playing this guitar a lot before he made me his scratch humbucker Tele which is now my guitar of choice. My genuine Tele just sits and collects dust these days.
