got some work done yesterday scrapped out the old binding its 1 job I hate because you can mess it up a few years ago I made a tool to scrape the old binding with out damaging the wood it nerve racking to do but came of good

the tool you can adjust it to fit any size binding and can rotate the carbon blade 180deg and cut a straight line if you want to scrape a Grove to install a binding on like a new tele I put a coupe of coats of clear to protect the maple veneer, New binding should arrive tomorrow or Tuesday got 4lt of 2k clear coming and kg of cutting paste,scraping the binding is the safest way to remove the old stuff using a chisel can mess up the wood and is important the wood is flat and straight sharp edge this one will come out nice if I don't f it up lol

That's an impressive looking little beast! I can't quite picture how you use it, though. But the results suggest it works great.

Now that I see it in action, I get it. I also want one ;-) I don't know if they are easy to make, but they look cool and effective. Only a matter of time until Big Luthiery (i.e. Stew Mac) comes to buy you out ;-)

it certainly can I've found the only way to get the old binding off I found was scrape it off I knocked it up about 1 year ago as using a router on an arch body isn't flat was a bit of a problemQuote:

got a bit done I've got the es335 all sanded and finished putting new binding on it its ready to mask up and prime up I put new binding on the scrolls as well not sure on colour yet I might want till the new candies are delivered before I decide, the les Paul got it sanded got to wash down the stain to bring out the grain got burst done but not a 100% happy with yet don't like it along the neck so I could change that yet
I was busy Saturday trolling cashies they have quite a few I might grab 1 had an egnator rebel 20 head going cheap so had to buy it and $280 for a full valve head was too good to pass up they have a switch you can chose which power valves you want to use you can switch between either EL84's or 6V6 plugged it in to my 412 and it rocks on the ELs sounds like a Marshall and on the 6V6 is very fender like has a built in attenuator you can go from 1watt to 20watt is super loud on 20w has a switch that really tighting up thesound it a pretty heavy little bugger, I was pretty happy with itput my line6 amplifi tt on it and I was in heaven

Exactly I've wanted 1 for years Frampton plays 1 Ace Frehley played 1 but it was done in a cherry burst with DiMarzio ,Super Distortion pick ups, its the best guitar I have out of 7 Les Pauls I haveee 2 are customs I've got a bit of a thing for them, I won't be messing with the black beauty, I've got a dsl20hr and the egnator Rebel 20 and both are loverly amps and the egnator you can switch to play either 6v6 or EL34's power tubes which is a great feature and they sound quite different
hey guys I've been trying some different paint but both the same colour here is something some of you guys maybe interested I've done candy apple Red with a 3 stage base, tint, clear and a 2 stage base colour and clear you guys who want do a candy apple Red guitar but don't have the equipment or the skills here a comparison that may help you out, 3 stage are the hardest paint you can do and you need gun skills to get an even look
this 1 is 3 stage at 6 coats both haven't been cleared bu you can use a rattle can acrylic laquar or a 2k on either their pretty close colour wise the 3 stage is a bit deeper but that will be closer once cleared so if you want a candy Red this is pretty easy to do even if you have never painted a guitar before

That is not a color I associate with Ford...at least not the ones I see around here.
What is the maker of your 2K acrylic? I am guessing that goes on with a gun? (I have no idea how a 2K rattle can would even work...)
my 2k clears I've used are epoxy not acrylic I want a super tough clear to stop chips and scratches i used alot of different brands over the years I also use an epoxy primer when I want to seal the body especially if I use a water based wood filler but my go to is concept brand, clear and I try to use it on all my clears simply because it sticks to the body and when cured its tough I mix it a 3to1 with anything between 5-20% reducer depending which gun I use I have about 40 guns ranging from small mini guns I use on burst and they go up to super fast guns worth $1500, Compressor my normal 1 was a 3.5hp 17cf which I sold about a month ago as I wanted a silent compressor which I purchased just last week and I'm pretty happy with it, I've used some clears which are rubbish it easy to peal off especially over sanding sealer I've been doing guitars for about 11 years normally I do 50-80 a year I have my own stock that I keep for my self if I do 1 that cost me $500+ I'm more likey to sell on and either buy product like paints, thinner, tack rags, tape, and sandpaper. if I see some guitars around $100-$250 ill buy a couple and if I like them ill keep them if not ill do them and give them away to people who have kids more times than not they will be single parents I don't care if their mums or dads its the kids are the ones who get the guitar, I usually give them a gig bag, picks, and a stand, this Xmas I'm going to include the unemployed, id prefer to see them concentrate on music and not out stealing cars I wish more guys would do it its very rewarding. Before my accident I was an Auto repinisher so I know what I'm doing I started my trade as a furniture polisher and moved over to cars about 2 years in and finished my indentures, as you seen on my Facebook like cars and bikes and drag racingQuote:

been a week, got 2 cleared and they are done till cut back and polish, I've still got 4 to do 2 Strats, Les Paul, es335, i love this clear its got a wonderful shine but I used my dv1 gun which is a super fast gun and put a huge run in the other Strat way to fast for a guitar body with all the fiddly bits so dug out my SATA X5500 guns which aren't as fast and got way better result, I'm now concentrating on the es335 got to tidy up around the binding to put the clear over it been over 2 years its been in the spare room should have a couple more cleared by the weekend as you can see the Dupli color of the straight candy red paint looks pretty nice with clear on it so you guys can do a candy apple Red paint pretty easy its a shame they don't do it in a larger can it use 1 tin to do this 1 would take 2 for say For a LP and grab a rattle can of 2k clear and you can get a nice look, ill do more with that paint in the future the clear really deepened it I'm pretty happy with him
on a different note its a sad day guys with King of metal passing I'm a big fan of Ozzy was a bit of a shock he was only 74 RIP Ozzy Osborn you will be missed
