Ihave just started on the same model.
great choice:)
I'll be curious to see how you tackle the pick up, since the flat plastic base does not conform to the rounded top.
I have decided to leave it in its natural colour with just a few coats of shellac (french polish)-
good luck!!

Still a bit time poor but on the right side of the tracks in getting the neck finished. The veneer is complete on back of headstock and I'm now applying Truoil same method as the body. So should have this 90% done by the weekend

Geez Ponch, you have done an amazing job with those veneers. Long shot on back of neck and it is pretty hard to see any join lines. Hopefully your TO application technique fills the tiny join line on back of headstock too.
Cheers Waz. It has been a voyage of discovery, frustration, 'stuff ups', foul language etc. but have learned heaps. And now have the utmost respect for master luthiers.
That's the plan with the TO technique, lets see if it works......
It will look very sweet and pretty once finished. Any plans for hanging up on display somewhere in the house? All of mine live in a back bedroom mostly hidden under the bed in hard cases or gig bags.
Ah well.... our so called 'study' is rapidly becoming a 'music' room. Guitars, basses, flutes, mics, karaoke machine (?!), some smaller amps/cabinets. So in short it should be on display ;)
Sounds good.
Neck has (finally) docked with the body and is now living away from the danger of my workshop.... I'll be handling with kid gloves from here on in.
