Build is looking awesome Barnsey, you should be well proud.
So glued neck i tonight, had to put a 1.5mm shim under heal of the neck to get the action down.
I had a bit of mischief the other night, after drinking copious amounts of beer i decided to do an experiment on the guitar, very silly..
The experiment was to do a thin coat of oil about 40/60 then as it went touch dry hit with the wool buffer, wait 10 minutes and do agian.
Buffing every 10 minutes for an hour.
Having not seen or read of anyone doing this it was a bit of a silly thing to try so close to having it finished, fortunately my drunken idea has worked a treat and come up like a sheet of glass Attachment 21196Attachment 21197
Glad the experiment worked out for you, Adam. It would have been a real shame if had ruined the finish.
Nothing to stop you assembling the guitar now. It could all be complete in a couple of days!
All strung up this arvo, pickups screwed in place and switch soldered and fitted.
Just the harness left to go. Super happy, action is nice and low, the strings have really nice sustain. Give it a week for the strings to settle in and then try and get the bridge in the right place. So far so good Attachment 21217Attachment 21218Attachment 21219Attachment 21220Attachment 21221
Nice and very shiny.
Looks great Adam, nice job
Attachment 21363 been to busy this week to do much, i was thinking about doing something like this on the headstock, i was looking into vinyl stickers but cant seem to find the right colour. Im not sure about printing up my own waterslide decal and weather it would come out any good
Looks good to me. If you don't want to do it, there are normally companies who will do a custom decal for you.
You might want to apply the real one just very slightly to the left to counter the sloping typeface, which makes it look a touch offset to me.
