Thanks guys for all the nice words! And yes, I'm gonna use Tung oil for the finishing coats. Today I wont have time to work on her but hopefully I can apply the first coats of oil tomorrow.
What would you recommend; glue the neck in before or after applying the Tung oil?

So it has to be asked... how much? We all want it.

Nice work there Kick, the front is looking great now, nice work with the back - a great job, especially for a first - this will look great with gloss - you should be pleased

Hi Kick, looks good.
If you glue the neck now before you start the Tung Oil it will become clumsy to handle and flip so that you can coat all sides at he same time otherwise you run the risk of ending up with tide marks that show where you have stopped and started. Maybe add a few with neck and body separated and then a few more once glued together to help smooth over the joint.
Cheers, Waz

Thanks Wazkelly for the idea and I think I'll do as your advise.
/edit: forgot something; I have to scrape the binding before applying the oil....
Love this forums and love you guys!

Ok, didn't do any work on the build but I bought something really nice; a 3D printer :)
Always wanted such a thing to print my own stuff and now I also can print my own designed trusrod cover. Only the program that comes with it is something I must dig into...
-
Nice find Kick! I almost did the same thing last week when I impluse bought a router and there was 3D printer beside it... one toy at a time. I look forward to seeing what cool and unique accessories you make with it.

Well, this 3D printing stuff is not as simply as it seemed and I think I have found some way out (and in) through the programs I have to use.
For now I make drawings in Sketchup Pro and export these (through an additional extension I downloaded from the Sketchup community) to a .STL file. This file can be opened with the supplied software from XYZ printing and used to actually print the model.
Now, since I named my build the Red Widow, the idea came in mind to do something with a printed Red Widow. I am experimenting with this idea so perhaps this will come to some nice outcome. Or not, then I forget about the idea...
