Hey thanks for the kind words @Ben, Crundes,Tony,Gav,Pest. I really appreciate the feedback:-)
I came across this vid a while back while trawling the web for fretting info and just HAD to save it.
Watch this guy as he effortlessly installs a fret using the vice grip method. He makes it look far too easy:P
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nUNrMvEVPI
Silly way to install frets, especially since he has nothing to hold the caul in place and also the fact that he didnt not use anything to protect the neck from the pressure (yes I know he used a bit of metal for the "neck" but a newbie would not think to do that.)
That video......expert village, eh? More like village idiot.
You've done a bang up job on this one mate. Top of the class. How's she playing?
Thanks man, that headstock was all you bro:-)
It feels really nice under the fingers and the action is pretty much where I'd have it set up as an everyday player. I'm not really a fan of the stock pickups, they're a bit too tinny and lacking bottom end detail for my taste but that's to be expected, having said that I've heard worse too.
I'd ordered some bone nuts but they haven't arrived yet so it's still got the plastic one in (yuck) and it's strangling the G string somewhat.
If I had money to burn I'd replace the pickups for two decent humbuckers, chuck a Tonepros bridge on, and some decent tuners and this would be a players guitar for sure.
Your design bro, I just brought it into the physical plane. :)
I get ya, decent hardware will make a fair difference, give it time, you will get there. After using a few bone nuts, those plastic ones are just awful in comparison.
Wow that is one sweet job mate. I had just posted my thread and saw you had finished yours.....just dragged through all the pics. Really amazing work mate. That has to be one of the finest guitars I have seen anywhere. Really amazing design, great workmanship and an awesome outcome. Chops right there. :)
After all the blood, sweat & tears you've ended up with an astounding guitar Bargey!
