I am currently working on my basswood TL1, just finish all the sanding today, and I found the basswood body really soft. I found this youtube video regarding to harden the timber with z-poxy. Would like to find out if anyone had experience with this. I would like to find out if apply stain on the body prior z-proxy, will it stop the z-proxy from penetrate into the timber.:confused:

Had a very quick skim through the video and reckon oil based stains might be an issue but should be ok with water or metho based stains underneath the epoxy finish.
Definitely test first!
I will see if I can find the video, but I have been "researching" the use of shellac as a sealer, and saw something on it as a hardner. The idea is to cut the Shellac to around 1 pound so that it penetrates deeply. One of the videos compared it to epoxy used to harden the wood, and found it came out favorably. Might be worth checking out since shellac is a lot less toxic.
Thanks all, I was looking at solution to seal the fabric for my fabric top. Then discover this z-poxy. Harden wood is just the fringe benefit. Went to fibreglass supply shop to seek some advice at lunch time and they suggest to use the self-levelling epoxy. The product people use to create river table. Got a litter of that at the end. Will report the result once I have test that out.
