Merry Xmas to me
My kids love me and got me an ES-1 kit to keep me amused for Christmas this year. The Millenium Falcon Lego model was out of their budget. If all goes well I will have a crack at a double neck at some point in the future.
Have taken over the spare dining table for the forseeable future. Laid out all the bits, seem to know where they all go and other than missing the Pit Bull decal all is accounted for.
Currently wading through so many forums and videos to try and determine the best plan of attack. The timber seems to me that it wont need all the sanding indicated in my reading to date.
The stories about finishing methods I find daunting but worth the challenge.

Hi Rusty, Welcome to the forum. What are the plans, have you decided yet?

Welcome Rusty.
Nice kit with a few challenges to look out for, getting wiring loom in the body being the biggest.
Take it real easy sanding the top veneer as it is sometimes thinner than a piece of paper. Sides are ok but timber and grain pattern on back is rather stringy, or at least that is how it was on the one I did earlier this year and not well suited to any water based stain as that just made it swell and opened up the grain.
Plenty of help or advice is never too far away.
Cheers, Waz
