School Awards Night
I was dragged along to the school awards night last night. It's always a loooooong, very boring night of back patting, but this year there was a highlight when this kid got up and absolutely SHREDDED an extended version of Lucretia by Megadeth.
Was funny to watch it go over with the older crowd.

His sweeps basically made me want to give up playing lol.
Talented little bugger. No video of him, but this is the Album version of it.

Good on him! All my friends were heavily into hardcore punk, and it was never well recived but was always lots of fun

It was certainly an interesting counterpoint to the string ensemble and stage band. The stage band featured 5 bass guitarists which was pretty funny. 3 doing pretty basic root note stuff and two, obviously more advanced, players sharing runs. The school has a dedicated music stream and you can even take 'Music Industry' as an elective and learn how to manage bands, promote, stage craft etc etc.

Music industry is an ace idea. It must be a relatively recent initiative, but a few of my younger brothers friends did something similar and it was really worthwhike

Hah, I didn't even pick that up until you said anything.

Awesome...music programs have been gutted so much here in the US, you'd never see something like this most places here.

The local primary school that a couple of my granddaughters go to has a band, plenty of brass and woodwind instrument plus keys, bass & drums and the primary that my grandson was at before they moved has a mobile music school that comes around a couple of times a week but this seems to be guitars only despite the signage on the bus
