Hello from Washington State USA,
My name is Mike and I'm building a 3/4 ST for my 7 year old son Andrew. He's always "played" guitar and other instruments so I want to encourage him. Today is October 19th and I am doing my Mock build any pointers would be appreciated.

Welcome mate . Plenty of info here, and family projects are always cool.
After your mock build, just generally assess the kit for fit, finish, quality issues etc. If you come across any then search here for pointers, or ask away.
Starting a build thread is helpful because we like to see what you are doing, and you can ask for help, show pics etc. and gives you a diary of progress.
Then get going! Enjoy
Welcome Mike. Encouraging your children to play an instrument is always a wonderful thing.
The best advice is to not rush things. Patience is your best friend when instrument building. Your love/hate relationship with sandpaper is about to start.
