Hi from Newcastle
G'day all,
About me: I am a man of hobbies! I brew (all grain) my own beer, kombucha for the wife, roast coffee, amateur mycology, love gardening (both veggies for the table and flowers for the house), I enjoy tinkering and understanding how things work.
At the moment I am semi-automating my brewery, establishing remote fermentation monitoring (and control) and am in the process of building my own smoker.
I briefly learned bass for a couple of years about 20 years ago and now want to pick it up again, me being me thought "why not custom build one!?"...
For the first one at least I am planning to go the kit option and upgrade pick ups and strings so I can learn first hand how it all fits together and some of the trips and traps, then I plan on getting a body blank and making my own + a custom neck from warmoth. I'd like my kids to learn an instrument each and figure leading by example is the best way!
I grew up listening to an eclectic mix of funk, blues, motown, and hip hop so these are the styles of music I will likely be playing and aiming for, I will post a build thread once I get going but for now will likely continue lurking and asking silly questions, there's so much information to process but very much looking forward to it.
Anyway, enough of the essay, cheers all!
TLDR; Will be building a bass guitar, will post pics, looking forward to the journey.

Welcome Judanero.
Plenty of good Bass kits available where you wouldn't really need to spend extra on a Warmoth neck. All depends what style you choose and how many strings I suppose.
Good luck on your new adventure.
Cheers, Waz
