September GOTM
September GOTM
Guitar of the month Comp time again! While for this there are no fortunes (just fame - or at least within the BYOGuitar fraternity) there's an opportunity for fame for the best guitar completed in August 2017.
August Guitar of the Month (for Guitars and Basses finished in August 2017)
Enter your finished guitar or bass here to be judged for the Pit Bull Guitars September 2017 Guitar of the Month.
Please remember:
For Guitars or Basses finished on (or before) 30 August 2017
One guitar/bass per member per month
It must be a Pit Bull Guitars kit (mods and upgrades acceptable)
Guitar or Bass must be finished and playable
We need at least 4 photos:
· full guitar shot from the front;
· close up of the body finish;
· shot of the back of the guitar; and
· close up of the headstock (please, no brand name logos)
Please post your photos in this thread. If you are having issues posting photos on the forum, please email them to brendan (at) pitbullguitars (dot) com
Please note: This competition is open to amateur guitar builders only. If you are making and selling guitars for profit, you are ineligible. Also while there are some stunning guitars around - you never know what the judges are looking for, so we encourage anyone who's built a Pitbull during the month to enter!
Competition for August closes 30 August 2017.
The sorts of things we judge on include:
· How well has the body and neck been prepared
· Is the choice of finish for the style of guitar appropriate
· How well has the finish been applied
· How well has all the hardware, pickups, etc, been installed
· Does it have the "Wow Factor"
· Which guitar would you make a beeline for in a guitar shop. That is, which one would you most like to take home.
I'm a personal fan of demos - no matter how simple - everyone likes to hear how an axe has turned out!
Also worth thinking - we've got a range of judges and who knows what they'll like (or not), so don't be afraid to enter your guitar - no matter whether you think it's good enough to win or not - on the day, you may get a couple to swing your way!
BTW - remember that the winner is invited to be a guest judge the following month!

My Pagan/Spanish Gold SH-1 build. All wired and playing great. Hardware upgraded with JCustom bridge and headpiece. Love this guitar. Body painted by Orangepaint Factory in Fredericton NB, Canada. I finished the neck with Walnut stain and Tru-oil and wax. Also a special detail on the back in memory of my Mom who passed away in 2014. Please accept for my entry for the September Guitar of the Month.

Looks great. Nice tribute to your mom.
In theory you're breaking the competition rules by not including a separate picture of the headstock - but I'm sure that in this case that rule can be waived! ;)
-
Haha .. nice. I am sans headstock lol

Looks great and also forgiven for no truss rod cover.

Looking great! Your mom would have been proud on you :)

Beautiful sentiment on the back and a stunning paint finish. Great job Klegacy.

I'll throw my MKA-2 in the ring.
I guess some of you guys have worked out I like weird stuff so the Mossy had been calling my name for a while.
Mods are : Custom clear pickguard from Pabs to which I applied a clear print out of some 60's style surf monsters and tiki's. Then put a layer of white vinyl behind that. ( all done from the back). I also asked Pabs to switch the pick up positions so I had a humbucker at the bridge and a single coil at the neck. I figured I needed oddish pick ups and ordered a set of lip sticks from Guitar Fetish. The humbucker splits on the volume pot push pull. I wanted matching knobs keeping in the whole 60's look so I ordered some from ebay , red centers with white rims but the red was no where near a match so I had to carefully sand it off and repaint with the same paint I used on the body. ( Auto acrylic).
I also wanted a trem ( surf guitars must have a trem, it's in the rules!), I'd spotted the Dusenburg le trem a while back and thought it suited the slightly odd style of the build and ordered one , also ordered a Realtone roller bridge. I'm very impressed with the Le Trem.
Tuners are Mini Grovers and she is currently strung with Hellwire 9's.
