3rd self Build
Hi All
This is my 3rd self build. My first complete build from scratch including fret board was from an electronics magazine I turned it into a flying v it was my school woodwork project. unfortunately it was a casualty of not enough care and it never received the paint job it deserved. RIP 1975-1977
My second Strat copy is going strong but is just missing the sound of my original flying V It has a nice Paint job red candy over a gold base coat.
My current project is les paul 3 pickup custom. which will be a silver burst copy when I have finished.
I do all my own spray painting and finishing.
I Am hoping the 3 humbucker pickups can give me the sound I am after.
Although it could have been the Orange valve amp that gave it the extra tone.

Just had a quick look at your ES-3 Good Decision to strip it back and go again. I had to sand my gold base coat back on my strat to get it looking right.

I sanded back the candy after as well as it went on unevenly.
after the final top coat of clear poly gloss lacquer. (Always looks wet)

It changes colour depending on the lighting. If its dark it takes on the dark red colour but in sunlight it glows bright Red.
And Under amber lights it turns gold. :-)
I only used spray cans from the local car paint supplier any colour you want made up in minutes.
A spray gun is just too expensive for the times I would use it.
