Topash's JR-1M Build (First Build)

I tried posting this yesterday but it seems to have not submitted properly? Anyway... I got this kit as a birthday present and am beginning my journey. I have absolutely no experience building a guitar and will probably ask many questions.

Thus far, I've come up with the design I want for my guitar and that's about it. Here's the design . The plan is to use dye to stain the body and finish it with tru oil. However, I've heard that mahogany doesn't take blue or green stains well and that tru oil leaves a reddish tint, which could be problematic. If anyone could confirm/dispute these and possibly give alternatives, it would be much appreciated!
