Notjack's LP-1SS
After putting my first build on hold (ex-1) due to not knowing how to fix my neck issues, i've started work on my LP. This isn't so much of a progress diary but here's what i've done so far.

I'm really happy the look of the maple however, there are a few holes in the vaneer that i should have filled.

There are still a few things that need finishing on it but i'm really pleased with how it looks. I'm more impressived it all works and is in tune, given i've no experience with building guitars, electronics or woodworking.
Things that still need doing are: finish the fretboard, logo design for headstock, 1 more coat of tung oil and a polish, then setting the action and tuning properly.

Incredible what you have done. How many hours did it all take? How did you do the polishing on the Tung oiled body?
-
Thanks Kick.
it's taken maybe 20-25 hrs i'd guess, most of which was sanding the grain filler off. that was a nightmare.
The Tung oil i applied with a cloth and let dry i haven't polished it properly yet but its still nice and shiney. i'm researching the best type of polish to use, most seem to suggest bees wax.

I see you have a nice satin finish already. How many coats of Tung oil did you apply? I have put on 2 diluted coats and three undiluted coats but there no sign of any gloss so far. Perhaps because I stained my body and yours is pure.

i'm on 7 or 8 coats now as i made a bodge of the first couple. The 1st coat was a bit thin and didn't soak it enough. then the 2nd I sanded too much and took some of the colour off the body. after that the coats went on really easily just with lint fee cloth, and a quick rub with 00000 wirewool.
