Hi from New Zealand
Hi all. I've just ordered a LP1-M kit which will be my first build, so no doubt will be looking for advice etc. along the way
The electrics side of things should be no problem, as I've got a Cort CR200 LP Gold top knockoff which I've replaced all the switches, wiring and pick-ups in. But the wood prep, dyeing, tru-oiling, gluing etc will be a first
What I'm hoping to do is have an Emerald green flame top and possibly the face of the headstock. The back of the body , neck & headstock will be dark green (almost black)
To dye the wood I plan on using fountain pen ink, as it's water based and available in a wide range of colours.
Finish will be Tru-oil over the body and headstock. I'd like to leave the back of the neck unfinished as I don't like a glossy/sticky neck, or is it better to apply a couple of coats of TRU-oil and buff to a matt finish?
Once I get things started I will start and keep an updated build dairy
Cheers
Ash

Welcome on board Ash, Plans sound well thought out. I look forward to seeing your build progressing.
As far as the finish goes, test, test and test some more on scrap wood, it may save you some whoopsies on the actual body.
There is a number of guys on the forum who are experienced with alternate dye substitutes so just pop you questions up and i'm sure you'll get a heap of advice.
Above all, have fun with it!
