wow never heard a 12 string bass but that sounds unreal. That Davie guy is a freak player
I've got one of the early Variax basses that has a bunch of "modelled" sounds in it - including a 12-string. Much easier to play on the Variax than with all those strings, but as you say Woks, Davie can do absolutely anything!!

Not sure I see the point of it, sounds unusual but maybe once a year it might get a run.
Many years ago I got an Electro Harmonix Frequency Analyser so I could play harmony with myself in one song, too much stuffing around and became a very expensive toy ( ~$250.00 in 1976 ) I got $450 for it in 2014
Tom Petersson from Cheap Trick used one quite a bit....
Not exactly the same, but John Denver used to play an 18 string guitar! He stopped playing because it never stayed in tune on stage!
Sounds cool , but to me it seems like its getting away from being a bass - but damn he is good
