hello from qld
On my first build . jb4m i think . I chose this kit for 2 reasons . #1. I lived with Aria jazz style bass for a while and fell in love. The Aria was the first jazz style bass i really got to spend any real time with .. Total shame coz she wasn't mine and #2 Doubting quality, it was the cheapest kit ..I do have to say as far as a bunch of bits go , the wood parts did surprise me . Tight neck joint .. Neck looks like a odd mix of many bits and peaces/some with flame and waves . String on time will be interesting .. I,m thinking if it plays nice by the end it may even earn its self some nice pimped out bits ,, :D. I will try to start a build log with pic's . I'm sure I'll be asking some Q's from the brains trust .. ...
Actually .. I think I seen a reference to printable headstocks here some where . So far I've failed to find it in search so it would be great help if anyone has a link to that thread .

Hi Dean, welcome.
Looks like everyone is hopping on the J Bass build theme at the moment. Great choice as they are easy to build.
Headstock shapes can be found on the web and here is a link to one site....

I saved a pdf document with 6 bass headstocks and happy to email it to you. If you PM me with your email address happy to send them on as it can be quite a search to find them.
Cheers, Waz

Hi Dean,
Everyone should have J Bass.....

It must be time I did a bit of a catch up here . Oh well , better late than never
Paint and assembly are done . I used True Oil over some stain from Bunnings on the body and just True Oil for the neck. Nice and easy .The body I started with a product called "Gun Shiner" from the local gun shop. I did not like the look and sanded back , re-stained and changed to True Oil.
Hardware is all stock except for the cheapo eBay scratch plate and set of Duncan hot jazz pups. I already had the bridge pup laying around here and found the neck pup online in Scotland. I'd say about $70 total on upgrades
Playability is still a work in progress . I have watched probably the same youtube clips as everyone , tried the levelling beam approach and settled on using a rather aggressive file after watching the Crimson Guitars guy. I'm currently waiting on a 3 sided crowning file and hope things feel better when I knock the flats on the tops of the frets . Its not completely horrid . its just not as nice as my bought bass's "yet".
Anyways .. I'm trying get some pic's up here but so far its not working … Cheers …..
