Matt's WL-1 build
Got my WL-1 kit in the post today. So far all I've done is opened it and had a quick look, then boxed it back up, as it's meant to be a birthday present for my kid. He will open it tonight.
So far he hasn't decided on a finish, so we will start with a mock build, take some photos, then spend some time thinking.
The WL-1 kit now seems to have disappeared from the shop after I bought it on the weekend, so maybe I got the last one? Or maybe there are more on order...?
Also bought the Darkstar humbucker pickups, and upgraded machine heads. I'm hoping this guitar will last him a LONG time.
This will be my second guitar build, first one from a kit.

kit looks good MJG, nice upgrades. What finish plan you got ? Presume your kid will work it out once opened

OK, so after a few hours of sitting at the computer colouring in guitars with Gimp, we have some idea of what my kid wants the guitar to look like. We rejected about 40 of the designs, and picked these 4 as favourites.
I'm thinking it's going to be a spray job, rather than a stain.
The absolute favourite was the mottled black on red look, but I've got no idea how to do that - so suggestions welcome. Something to do with sponges I'm guessing? :-)

And I clearly can't count. That's five designs, not four.
