Featherbeast #40
Many of you will be familiar with Clarry the Galah and some may have seen pics of Henry the Eclectus, my two hand raised featherbeasts and workshop supervisors...
Meet Cheeky, a Scaley Breasted Lori we rescued from a local bird shop a few weeks back.
Cheeky's origional owners went to Cambodia for two years and left the little guy with their neighbors.
When they came back they wondered why the poor little guy didn't know them and was a bit bitey...
Some people..
So they dumped him at the bird shop the very next day :(
This pic was taken the second day I had him, which just goes to show all he needed was some time to re adjust.
Birds will lie on their back when they are completely trusting of the person handling them, so to do this less than 24 hours in a new home home shows just how friendly and trusting this guy is.
Anyhoo, my gain.
The featherbeast population is now at 40.... I think I might have a problem....

This is Merlin. He talks quite a lot. Matter of fact he hardly ever shuts up.....
-
40 smorty, its only a problem if they're seagulls, ibis, pelicans or Wedgetails.

Birds are great pets, when I was younger I used to breed a few of the neophema family of grass parrots about the size of a budgie as well as lots of different finches both Aussie and foreign. These days I just have the randoms that drop in, magpies, butcher birds, crested pigeons.

Butcher birds are really sweet natured and seem smarter than magpies. Definitely quicker off the mark.
