Starting my ES-5V

Well did not take too long before my first query:

This kit is based on a Gibson 125

Anyway, stated the mock build and put the neck in the neck hole on the body. When the neck is pushed down as far as it can be towards where the pick-up will be there is about a 1mm or thereabouts gap at the bottom of the neck where it should meet the body. Alternatively when the neck is pushed back so that this gap disappears it would seem, by comparing it to my Epiphone 335 anyway, that the angle of the neck in relation to the body would be too steep for the strings.

Any comments please.

Hi Steve, I was correct with my kit guess on your welcome thread.
The neck is supposed to have about 3-4 degree angle so the neck tilts toward the back of the guitar to compensate the high tune-o-matic bridge height.
What you can do is clamp the neck flush in the pocket and get a long ruler to see how the string action will be between the nut and bridge saddles. Place the bridge on a couple of washers to mimmic the approximate height of the bridge.
