Hi DB,

There are quite a few to choose from.
Tassie Blackwood is one of my faves for bodies and necks.
Queensland Maple is stunning for bodies and drop tops, but so is the price......
Black Sassafras, She Oak, Silver Wattle, Myrtle Burl, Birds Eye Jarrah burl are all very noice for tops.
Gidgee, Bonari, Beef heart and figured Eucalyptus are great for fingerboards.
Thats just a few....
Thanks DB
I see Camphor laurel around a bit for bodies. Is it a good wood for Lutherie
Have some Qld maple tops and trying to match a good body wood that will compliment.
Never used Camphor Laurel. Works well for furniture so no reason why you couldnt use it for a Guitar body.
Only thing I would be worried about is due to it being a fairly oily timber, glueing may be a challenge but there should be a workaround if it is.
That would be a good question to ask a cabinet maker I guess.
Otherwise, it would be a nice contrast to the QLD Maple and a bonus is termites wont eat your Guitar :D
I'm currently finishing up a bass made from reclaimed Australian hardwood. Brushbox for the body and neck, and Ironbark for the fret board.
No idea how it sounds compared to other woods - I'm a bit of a pleb when it comes to tone. Sounds OK to me so far.
