Hello!
My name's Shawn, and I currently live in Knoxville, Tennessee in the US. My father used to call me Rev, hence the username. I have a day job as a television director, family in Brisbane and, well, no dogs, unfortunately, so I can't post a photo on the Dogs thread. Just four cats. :)
I wouldn't make the claim to being a luthier or expert builder, but I did build a guitar from assorted parts at 16 years old (twenty freaking years ago). I wanted a Mockingbird at the time, but I didnt like the Floyd they all came with back then, or the neck scale. So I built my own Mockingbird equipped with two Duncan humbuckers, a flatmount Tele bridge, and a shorter Gibson scale neck. Since then I've not built another from base parts, but I do have quite a few Ive rebuilt or modded extensively - among those, a glow-in-the-dark Strat with stacked humbuckers and a push pull pot to switch capacitors, and an Epi SG I installed an LED scanner and scrolling programmable marquee on, plus humbucker splits and some other weirdness.
I'm in a skatepunk band (The Harakiris) here in the US, and my main guitars right now at shows are a different Epi SG with an Invader pickup replacement and an actual BC Rich Mockingbird. Theharakiris.bandcamp.com, if anybody wants to go listening, or its on iTunes and Spotify and Amazon and so forth.
My wife bought me the MK-2 kit recently as she knows I like some of the offbeat vintage instruments (I have an Airline copy and a 60s Japanese Strat type, both with Bigsbys and lots of switches), and Pitbull offered theirs in the shorter scale. I won't get to work on it for a couple of months, but I went ahead and started a build diary thread just to keep my thoughts straight. :)
Anyway, yadda yadda, dats me.

Hi Shawn and welcome to crazy town. Sounds like you'll fit right in.
High five for the family in Brisvegas.
I saw your other post on the build diary, waiting till the new year...that's just cruel torture isn't it!
Checked out the video on youtube of the Harakiris...is that you on the Epi LP?

Nope, thats the other guy, who I'm trying to talk into getting his own kit just so we can at least share mistakes! But I do have a liking for Epis, mainly because the lower price tag means I can work on them without worrying that I might be doing irreparable damage to something costly. The G-310 SG is by far my favorite to modify - once I've ripped out and replaced the wiring, I don't like the factory job.
Waiting till January is a source of impatience, yes. :) But it gives me a couple of months to do my homework, since I haven't assembled something like this in a very long time.
