Cutting switch plate?
For my next build I'm using a switch plate like the one pictured. The thing is I want to use on-off-on switches rather than the on-on switch this plate is designed for. What I need to do is elongate the switch hole rectangle to accommodate them but I'm not sure what would be the best way. Filing, Dremel-ing?? I figure at worst I could cut a new one from some 1mm aluminium sheet, but sadly the green shed only has the 1mm stuff in 25mm widths which is too narrow. They do have 3mm that's wide enough, but that seems way too thick.
I'm open to any creative ideas!

Flick Pabs a message, he could most probably cut you a real beauty as he has the technology :)

Under normal circumstances, yes, but the laser is playing silly buggers at the moment and I can't get it to cut metal. I could send you a piece big enough (stainless), or cut you something in plastic.

The only problem cutting the one you have is that it is steel, as soon as you cut it and the chrome plating is gone it will rust. Stainless is the best option, ally next as it polishes to a different shine.

Thanks Pabs - and good point Dedman. I might keep looking for a piece of aluminium that I can work with, with a plastic (or pickguard material) option as a backup option if I hit a dead end.

I have a material that looks like brushed metal, or depends on the rest of your colour scheme.
