Masking Tape Gum
Hi Guys,
Just a quick question. What would be the best way/stuff to remove Blue masking tape gum which has been left on for too long.
I was masking up a area to be painted a different colour and when I took of the tape there was gum on the base coat and I'm worried that whatever I use may react with the base coat paint.
Thanks.

Hey Peter, what type of paint are you using?
-
Hi DB,
The paint is MOTOSPRAY Super Enamel. Which has been wet sanded ready for the gloss.

Try a soft cloth and dish soapy water, gentle scrub. One of those micro fibre type cloths will pick it up better. Nothing there should hurt your paint

Peter, get some wax and grease remover, would be the safest way to go. Put some on a clean cloth and gently rub off the tape gum, then dry off with another clean cloth, just don't rub too hard let the cleaner do the work. Also will help remove any finger / hand prints on the surface before the clear coats. You can get it from DB's (least) favourite shed or a local paint place.

Both suggestions are good, but never gets sent to the NW for alluding to the BGSFOS :p
