Hi from Canberra!
Hi all,
Got an amazing RC4 for christmas and can't wait to get started. Looking forward to the process and hearing/seeing others' guitar projects.
Does anyone who has already built the Rickenbacker Bass kit know if the neck is simply glued into the body or requires bolting as well? I think it is glue only, but without instructions I am a little unsure.
Also, where to begin for the mock build? (I know not to glue the neck on for the mock build, so for that do I clamp it maybe?)
Cheers,
Andy

Hey Andy,
Great kit is the RC4! You'll love it. The neck is just glued. The recommended glue is titebond. Just clamp it for the mock build. Get your bridge position calculated (I use the stewmac fret position calculator myself) , clamp the neck on and get the two outer strings running up the neck from the bridge to the headstock. If you dont want to use tuning pegs to hold the string to the headstock you can clamp them there too (use some padding!). Position the bridge so the strings run nicely up the neck. At the same time sheck your action to make sure it isnt too high. The strings should be touching the lower frets with the bridge adjustment all the way down. Hope this helps.
cheers,
Gav.

Welcome along Andy! Hope the build goes well - ask any questions you've got. Great to see another bass player on the forum - we'll soon outnumber the guitarists!

Welcome to the forum Andy, great kit to start with.
Start a build diary and ask any questions there. Have a read of some of the other RC-4 build diaries may give some good pointers.
Mock build and start sanding
Best of luck with the build !
