STA1-R Pro Kit Diary
Received the Pro Kit today that Adam set up.
With the standard kit came the
Babicz bridge, Grover 406C tuners, Tonerider City Limts pickups, Pro Rock Gear strap Locks, All Parts electronics and some Slinkys (my favourites) as upgrades
The Ash body has some nice grain front and back and no dings or marks that wont make an easy sand and give a nice finish. Will come up really nice with the Dingotone finish.

Kit came with a reverse headstock and Rosewood neck. Has a nice wavy grain in the fretboard. Couple of small flaws one little pinhole and a bit of a ding which I think may steam out or require a little touch up.
Yet to decide on what shape to do the headstock and treatment.

So one of the reasons I grabbed this, was the Babicz trem that came with it as have been interested to try one for awhile. So first Impressions.
Have had a play with the cam system for raising and lowering action and really easy to use and will make setup a piece of cake. Very robust piece of kit, well made, great finish and the string saddles are solid and retained firmly by the sides of bridge frame.

When I initially saw the bridge in the packet I thought they skimped a bit on the tone block by its physical dimensions. But it has some weight as a unit. So as a comparison ( and because I finally found a use for the kitchen scales I bought a year ago) I compared the Full contact with , standard pitbull supply (chrome) and an Allparts strat replacement (Black bridge base).
Fairly significant difference over the standard and a bit more weight than a normal Strat replacement. I reckon this will sing and have awesome sustain.

The Pro Rock strap-locks are fairly decent quality and fit the genuine Schaller buttons snugly also, so bonus for inter changeability.
The Grover tuners are solid units also.Still trying to figure out the strin lock mech (I assume) Unfortunately these will not suit this build due to reverse head stock config but have six other kits that they will fit. Will source another reverse set as really like the quality of these.

Nice.
You wont be disappointed with the Babicz, they really are an amazing bit of kit.
I have used a few TOM bridges, and although they feel light in the hand they are incredibly dense and sustain for ages.
I must say I am surprised by the weight difference of the trems, the Babicz must have a very dense and heavy block!
-
Db with the all parts bridge you can feel that the weight comes from the block , but the Babicz seems to have the weight in the bridge body. Out of interest might split the block off and re weigh tomorrow.
-
Yeah, I would be interested to know how much the block weighs in comparison to the others.

nice looking kit there Tony, great score I'll be watching this diary with interest. So did you go with Karijini red DT ? should look choice with the gold hardware.
Why won't the locking tuners work on the reverse headstock ? I got similar tuners on a Formentin guitar, been that long since I played it but think you have to loosen that top screw slot to loosen off the tuners
