Stencils and painting
As stated in a couple of other threads, I need to paint black crosses on a blue guitar.
So if I cut adhesive vinyl to shape, and paint the cross. What concerns do I have removing the vinyl?
Do I need to use a sharp blade on the edges etc.
I am using enamel paint on this one.

Hi Neal, I have been airbrushing for a very long time using methods from free hand to masking and stencil. For what you require I would simply use a simple standard masking tape to make your crosses shape. Allow the paint to dry but not harden and run a blade lightly around the edges and peal off. Only apply enough paint for solid colour cover .

Thanks Jrod, I was worries about Crusader using adhesive vinyl... Had visions of it tearing the blue paint off...
Would the blue low tack masking tape work, using your suggested method?

3m fine line is the better stuff. Paint bleed usually occurs with the low tac. Very very fine first two coats to seal the edge.

Ahhh, kewl. That makes sense.
