hi guys,
I'm starting a new LP build (LP-1M) but I noticed that a few of the frets are not completely down on the fretboard. This is the first time in 25 builds that this has happened! Can someone please suggest a way that I can seat these properly? Do I need to get a fret press? Can I just bash them in with a hammer? I would rather not have to buy another specialised tool if I can help it. Any suggestions out there guys?

You could try a clamp with a padded radius block? Or lightly tap with a plastic hammer, see if that works?
I've seen people use a dolly under neck and something to distribute force across frets on top and whacking them.
Hey Gav, you really need to try tap them in with a SM fret hammer. A normal hammer will put big dents in your frets.
Or try and shape a piece of hardwood to act as a caul and push them in using a drill press would be a better method.
If the fret ends aren't staying down you may need to use a bit of superglue and clamp the ends down
Gav if you go to the green shed or similar and buy a soft hammer. They are not expensive and have a double sided head. One side will be nylon and the other will be brass, or a different nylon: they look surprisingly like SM fret hammers....
