Hi guys,
I am going to start my Tele build soon. With this being my first build, I have a few questions. I think I am going to do a Joe Strummer Tele. Not identical, but the road worn black painted look. Like the photo I have posted.
What are the absolute must haves for finishing?
What grits of sand paper will I need?
What is a good way to relic the hardware?
Any thoughts, tips or tricks will be greatly appreciated.

Also, what finishing items should I buy? Grain fillers, Laquers, Oils, Etc...
Relicing is pretty easy to do, but really hard to get right. Start with a fully painted guitar and work it back, considering how the paint would organically rub with years of play. Buckle rash, arm wear and pick chips all happen in specific areas. Multiple layers of different colour undercoat will get the effect in the above pic, I believe Joe's tele was originally sunburst.
