Animals As Leaders. These guys have flown under my radar for a while now. I've known about them, but every track I heard failed to grab me. Until now.

I think I get extended range guitars a bit better now. Making bass players redundant.

Tosin Abasi is an incredible guitar player. Animals as Leaders are really a fusion band masquerading as a Djent band. I think that is why I like them (in small doses), but many people struggle to "get" them.
My bass player friends would prefer Animals as Leaders used bass instead of using the 8 string guitars to cover the low end, and I get what they mean. 8-string guitar has a very different sound to bass guitar.

He really is an impressive player. Some of the cleanest sweep picking I've seen and those raked chords make my hair stand on end. So tight. Can't say I even know what 'djent' is.

@Fretworn, so, what I've been calling prog metal for all these years. Haha. There are too many sub-genres for me to keep up with these days.
@Lawry, that's a bit harsh isn't it?. I totally identify as a bass player. Haven't played guitar in a band since high school. :P
