I'm surprised no one has mentioned this one yet. I’ve been tempted to grab a JM kit but talked myself out of it because I’ve always had a soft spot for the Jags… the dodgy trem/controls/stylish pickguard setup… my god could these things BE any sexier?
Is there a reason there’s not already a Jag kit? Could the controls alone cause a mental breakdown?

Gotta agree. I've always loved the look of these things. That's one of the reasons why I built the JM-1. It was the closest thing I could find.
-
It might have to do with the scale length. Jags have a 24" scale length instead the standard Fender 25.5" or Gibson 24.75". The kit factories probably don't want to mess around with another set of maching for a different scale neck.
-
ahh yes, I forgot about the scale length.... not many other 'popular' 24" guitars around either I don't think.
-
so, they could keep the current scale , it's the look! Surely if they could get the look right, the issue of scale would not be a major issue - or is that just me?
-
You're right Stan! and a 25.5" jaguar would actually be pretty cool, the only real difference between the jag and jazzmaster is the scale and control setup... bodies are pretty much identical.
-
Yhep... the mental health system would not be able to cope with the fall out from folk trying to wire one of these up... I am still in therapy a year after my first attempt to wire up the 335 kit. Still have nightmares over that experience :)
Jags would send anyone around the twist!
