Okay
Given the number of members of the community, I wonder how many are familiar with Rush.
I've posted this in the inspiration section as, if there is ever any band that makes me want to grab the guitar (or jump on the drums or pick up a bass), it is Rush.
Their prolific career and catalogue of albums continues to amaze me. Even when I don't think I feel like listening to them, if I hear them, I want to play music.
A very intellectual band, with a great sense of rock.

Interested to know if anyone else out there is a Rush fan. :D

Yeah, got a lot of love for Rush. But I can appreciate why they are so often derided....three truly consummate musicians.

Great clips Bass Guy.
One of the great things I get from Rush is the intricate web their songs have (kinda embarrassing though when I get excited listening to them, go and jump on the drums and realise I am nowhere near the skill and ability of Neil Peart :)).
I really like this clip (which I'm watching on DVD at the mo') for YYZ which gives a bit more visuals to what to Geddy Lee is doing on Bass...(damn, wish I could do that too :))

I've been listening to, and loving, Rush for 30 years.

Hi Analyst,
I haven't heard much Rush but love the 1st video clip (and the double neck SG in the background !)
any good concerts you recommend on youtube or download of the net ?

Hey Wokka
Where to start :)
Rush in Rio is held up as an awesome concert (with an incredibly wild crowd). One of the great standouts is the performance of YYZ at around 27 minutes in...the crowd are going nuts and seem to be singing along to an instrumental.

For past history the Exit Stage Left concert/documentary is pretty good (this was 1981 so the quality of footage isn't spectacular):

The Classic Albums 2112/Moving Pictures documentary was particularly awesome as it gives a bit more history of the band and their evolution along the prog rock path:

Last month, Rush were finally inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame (after a career of around 40 years). There is actually some good clips from the induction ceremony on youtube (including Dave Grohl, who was given the honour of inducting them, playing Rush songs while dressed like they did in the mid 70s).
