If I'm using Wudtone colourless neck finish, I'm curious whether I can get a satin finish by using 400 or 600 grit sandpaper or even 0000 steel wool after it is completely dry?
I like the satin finish, but I want the neck to remain protected.

Not sure about that, but there is a satin top coat finish that you could have purchased from Pit Bull Guitars...
Never mind, I have the regular one on it's way, and I will likely stick with it for my ST-1, just curious.
I spoke to a guitar shop guy once who said he sands all the necks on his guitars to get a satin finish, but I'm not sure whether it works on a lighter oil based finish like Wudtone as opposed to a thicker poly based finish.
I think it would work....worst case you could redo it.
I think if you scratch plastic you probably will get a 'satin-type' finish....
waxing it help?
oops, thinking slide - a - bility.. steelwool?
Give it a rub with steel wool.
With time and use it will gloss back up though.....
I think Gav has already covered this; but can't you just hit it with a Satin or Neutral clear poly or Wudtone top coat?
