		Welcome
		Hello All,

Thought that I would introduce myself as a newbie and i hope this is in the right spot, apologies if it isn't . My name is Owen, I'm an old fart that has been playing guitar since I was a boy, not that it makes me any good. More of a basher than anything else. These days it's mostly dirty ditties for my wife. I work as a Senior Safety Advisor (yep, one of those guys lol) and have been at that for over 20 years.

My gorgeous lady recently bought me the STA-1 kit along with some upgrades such as tuners and I'm having a bunch of fun, not to mention it was a great reason to go to Bunnings and buy some new tools such as a band saw and a drill press along with a bunch of other stuff.

Have recently finished the neck with 10 coats of Tru oil, looks and feels very slick. I have marked out and drilled all required holes for the body and currently waiting on a delivery of filler before ai move on to any type of finish. Had a lot of fun trying to position the bridge correctly, particularly in the lateral sense but managed to get it within 0.16 mm, so I hoping that's within tolerance.

Looking forward to getting some advice with the electronics as I noticed more wires than seem necessary and one has fallen off a pot and as it's not a strong suit, looking forward to having to chat with people in the know.

Stay safe, happy building and picking.

		Hi and welcome Owen.
Great that you are having lots of fun with the ST-1 kit. Not sure if you needed a band saw and drill press, but we can vouch for you if needed!
It will be worth starting a "My build diary" thread and ask questions when needed.
 Good luck with the build.

Welcome Owen! I have to say that I am impressed with your choice in significant others! From what I understand she's gorgeous, she bought you an upgraded strat kit, which you were able parlay into a drill press and a band saw for your shop! Well done all around.

Good start on the neck. Will be looking forward to the build!

When you start the diary you may want to post some pics of the wiring harness. At least one of the stray wires may be a ground that you will need to solder onto the "claw". Are you thinking of doing any upgrades to the electronics or just going with what came with the kit?

Hi fender 3x, thank you for your reply. Yes definitely very gorgeous, not only did she buy me a great kit but has also allowed quite a stable of other guitars including Ibanez, Fender and Gibson. And I agree the drill press and band saw was a great score and actually her idea. What a great lady.
The kit has a pick up arrangement of HSH, the most confusing is a single grey wire coming off the switch, but yes, I will post some pictures as I am sure the smart people on the forum will be able to assist.
